I Lived in Heaven

SUPER COOL WEEK!!

It rained sooo much here on the island and everything floods super fast. We walk the streets completely flooded up to our knees in places. There is a superstition that when it rains you will get sick if the rain touches you. When it rains everything closes down and nobody works, it is weird but also cool to find people in their houses. It rains for a straight week and then people complain about not having money because they couldn't work because it was raining...

We have a full plate here in Carmen. SUPER PRETTY AND AWESOME when it's not flooding:)

I've been really thinking about what President Nelson has been encouraging us to do and that is daily repent! How can I do better? As a missionary or just as me?
We were able to baptize a Man named Armando HE'S THE BOMB! I love him because he had a strong background in the Bible being a former Jehovah's Witness. Foundational built on happiness, the Gospel, we know that families can be together forever.
He asked me a question, "if the church you teach me, is actually about the happiness of families and that we lived with our family and heavenly father before this life, why is it that I have to do more to be able to live with them forever? If I get baptized, my whole family is baptized, and we live worthily why do I have to get sealed in the temple?"
It's the same principle of baptism, if we are perfectly obedient and follow all the teachings of the church but we are not baptized it is made clear to us in the bible and the Book of Mormon that we can't be saved in the kingdom of heaven. I asked him why he thought that. I said it was the same principle. With being sealed to our families, idk if that makes sense- but it did to him

The end of this life is not the end, we lived together with our Father in Heaven before this earth and will after. The spirit hit me really hard this week when we sang the children's song I Lived in Heaven at his baptism this week.

  1. 1. I lived in heaven a long time ago, it is true;
Lived there and loved there with people I know. So did you.
Then Heav’nly Father presented a beautiful plan,
All about earth and eternal salvation for man.
  2. 2. Father said he needed someone who had enough love
To give his life so we all could return there above.
There was another who sought for the honor divine.
Jesus said, “Father, send me, and the glory be thine.”
  3. 3. Jesus was chosen, and as the Messiah he came,
Conquering evil and death through his glorious name,
Giving us hope of a wonderful life yet to be
Home in that heaven where Father is waiting for me.

  4. I cried when I was singing this because it is true. I am a Child of God, Armando is a child of God, and the Gospel Principles are all so simple. I am happy when I get to teach the Plan of Salvation and the Bible and the Book of Mormon. I am happy to be a missionary is an understatement. I saw with Armando, that the Church bless and can change EVERYONE.
    Love Elder Jeppesen
I made some mac and cheese and lemonade I was so happy :)

VAMOS A LA PLAYA!!$)

I got transferred!
SAD and HAPPY!
I'M IN CUIDAD DEL CARMEN! This place is so cool. It's an island that's part of the state of Campeche. When we were coming on the bus we passed over a bridge that is a couple miles long and I saw two dolphins! This is the prettiest place ever. We live basically on the beach! The sun here is sooo strong and the rain is too! I'm the Zone Leader here with Elder Escobar which is cool because it means I will get to see the whole island when we go on divisions.

I'm so sad I had to leave Cunduacan. I feel like that place was my home. I was there for 6 months and I made the bestest of friends and had the best time ever, but all good things come to an end:( I left a few baptisms that I was looking forward to, but the best part is that they got baptized, so I'm happy.

We were talking with one of the ladies we are teaching and I remembered something from conference that entertained me, it was "Gozo es un previlegio para los Santos" or "Joy is a privilege for the Saints" I really loved that. When we teach people sometimes things just click with the person and they can better understand that eternal life is joy. Pleasure is just for a season but everlasting happiness is for those that have tasted a bit of sacrifice. To be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ I know joy comes from the way we live.

Here are some pics! My companion and I and our house and the trip to come to the island.

Somos Huaraches

This last week was our wards celebration for Mexican Independence Day. We dressed up as Huaraches and danced a Mexican Folklore dance. It was really funny because it was a gringo remix and all the members thought it was the funniest thing ever.

We also went to some Mayan/Lamanite ruins which were really cool and really pretty. It was so big and the mosquitos were really really bad. Nevertheless, It was super pretty.

We got to have Bianca´s confirmation in sacrament meeting and it was super, super cool. We have our stake conference on Saturday and Sunday so we might have to move her mom's baptism back. (Adriana)
What a fun week this week.
We didn't have transfers yesterday so I'll be here in Cunduacan until November. Living the life!! :)

happy days

I HAD THE BEST WEEK EVER!!
FIRST, I got to go to the temple with SANDY. It was so fun. We went and did baptisms and I got to see her baptized over and over and over. It made me so happy because I remember how awesome it was the first time. We woke up at 4 in the morning to get over there. She's so cute and I'm so proud of her. She said she wants to get married in the temple and I cried :)) I got to confirm her a few times after too. I also got to see some of the changes in the temple and I just remembered how much I love the temple. I just love it.

Bianca got baptized! She's 14 and she's the first in her family to be baptized!! She has so much faith and she was so happy after!! We are planning on baptizing her mom and brother too and eventually her whole street who are her family members hahha. So many of them came to church!!!

Monica and Alan ARE GETTING MARRIED!! We went and taught them about the power of temples and being sealed in the temple and after 1 YEAR they're finally getting married tomorrow!!! After Alan gets back from work next month, they're getting baptized on the 19th. SO happy :) They are awesome!
I threw up because I had bad milk it kinda sucked made my stomach hurt really really bad. I lived.
It's Mexican Independence day sooo... VIVA MEXICO lotta drunks we had to be in our houses really early last night.
