Encompassed by Syrians lead by king Ben-Hedad Elisha and his servant began to analyze just how tremendous their situation was, overwhelmed by horses and chariots too many to be counted. As Elisha´s young servant, trembling with fear, exclaimed "Alas, my master! How shall we do?" Elisha responded, "fear not for they that be with us, are more than they that be with them." (2 Kings 6:16)
This week started off like this a little bit for me. Elder Matamoros is awesome, but the thought of only speaking Spanish, teaching and introducing every investigator, remembering our giant area with no names for anything while still trying to play it cool was a little stressful. Weird because it's not in my character to feel like I was at the beginning of this week. I just want to be the best but it felt like horses and chariots against me. I think of the young servant's mind as he is thinking, 1 himself and 2 Elisha.... how are there more with us than them. Prayers of the righteous that the power of heaven is called down. It's real. Elisha prayed, " Lord, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see". As the Lord opened the eyes of the young servant, he quaked, as he saw " the mountains filled with horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha" I'm not kidding when I say I know for a fact that D&C 84: 88 is real.
I think of what my dad would say something along the lines that energy is just energy. Anxiety, nerves, excitement, and attention are all just types of energy and you pick how to channel them. (John 14:27) Next thing he would probably say is something along the lines of 1 Nephi 3:7 " go and do" have some grit, there is power in his words. Be happy and enjoy it, so when the day comes that we might be able to hear the words of Matthew 25:21 " Well done my good and faithful servant" sit down you've done enough-Jay Temple
I decorated our room for Christmas, it's dope we thriving out here.
Also if you speak Spanglish I told my comp that "Floyd killed the rat" and he came running super fast and he just killed a rat.
Also, I'm pretty sure the Mariachi band in AD are my favorite people ever. 4 of them are named Fernando and they always cheer when we walk by so I bought them a coke.
we shared a little about them BoM and they're just so funny. They're not very interested but it's nice I have some supporters out here. They always wanna hear about Texas and I told them about the Golf tournament with the Mariachi band and they were all laughing its so fun.
I got a Pemex Rain Jacket. Pemex is an Oil and Gas Monopolized industry which basically powers this portion of Mexico it's actually kind of sad. They give most of the jobs down here which is good but anyway Its Pemex everything so that's why the jacket is funny.
Surprisingly, I actually miss reading whatever it is I want.
I'm working on being more exactly obedient, and diligent.
It took me a bit to understand why many of the people do not have the desire to exercise their faith and want to know more, as the spirit is there and I can feel it and see that they can feel it too. From Christ's ministry in Judea and Perea many of the people don't have the desire to change. I learned that the failure to comprehend, the importance of the Gospel, is in part due to the fact that the human mind is frightened or loath to search deeply into anything it desires not to believe. Many are afraid of obligation and commitment and don't want that responsibility.
Doing my best and pray for yall all the time. No words can describe how freaking great America is and Texas and I miss USA air but it'll do.
